Rain Bird's ESP-SMT Smart Control System is a simple-to-use, weather-based irrigation controller that saves time, money and water.
• Designed for residential and light commercial use
• Includes an on-site weather sensor with a unique "tipping rain bucket" for instantaneous rainfall measurement
• Controller panel's intuitive wizard prompts users to enter site location and elevation, along with zone-specific information such as sprinkler type, sun exposure, soil type and slope
• After extracting location-specific monthly historical weather data from its memory, the ESP-SMT develops an optimum irrigation schedule
• Each day, the ESP-SMT uses data recorded by its weather sensor to calculate the site's evapotranspiration (ET) rate, deducting any effective rainfall amounts to determine precisely how much water is needed to maintain the optimum level of moisture in the soil
• The ESP-SMT considers all of these factors and decides whether to continue with its predetermined irrigation schedule, suspend irrigation or adjust the schedule to apply more or less water as needed
